I really enjoyed doing these, I haven't drawn trees for ages, or used pen and ink for that matter. Pretty much unplanned, with just a quick pencil guide then started with the pen and paper and went with it. For the second version I added some coloured pencil to a copy of the original, as I wasn't too sure how it would look. I'm quite happy with both versions, for a change.

Andy, I love that you tackled the complexity of this reference. The pen and ink is nice because it captures the value contrasts of the reference. I think I prefer the P&I without the colored pencil, but I could change my mind. For the watercolor, I really like that you warmed up the color of the tree bark and again chose a really complex area for your crop. It turned out great!
I love the variation on a theme:all are great! I must admit to having a wee bit of a soft spot for your watercolour though: just gorgeous:)

Love the pen and ink with the blue wash sky! Very well done technically, but really captures a cold, fall mood. Great job!
That first one is abstract. Nice crop. I like them all. The first two are strong and evoke the feeling of winter. The third is like an Indian summer day in the fall.
I love the high contrast of the first two and the softness of the third, also great colour choices in the third.
Andy I cannot decide which of these interpretations calls out to me the most. I adore the design aspects of the black and white branches. But the warmth of that watercolor is brilliant too.
Andy - I had to come back to your pieces several times. I like all of them for many reasons. Great composition, really well done - and I especially like the golden atmosphere of the last one!
I love the zoom in views on these. I think next time I'm definitely going to do pen and ink.
Andy, you really captured that pesky (at least it was to me!) bend in the main tree trunk in the watercolor version. Very nicely done!
These really are great. I love the interlocking branches in the top versions; and I cannot believe the bottom one is a watercolor! There's such a soft, muted quality to it. Entirely naturalistic and beautiful!
WOW -- truly beautiful and it's impossible for me to choose a fav. I really like the first one, but then I really like the last one. . . ha ha.

Gorgeous, ALL of them. Esp love the ink and blue pencil.....just draws me right into the scene.
